TOMRA Mining will supply its advanced X-Ray Transmission (XRT) sorting technology to Koura’s Las Cuevas fluorspar mine in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. The two cutting-edge sorters, the COM Tertiary XRT and COM 1200 XRT 2.0, are designed to improve waste removal by targeting silica and calcium carbonate, enabling more efficient processing and enhancing fluorspar quality. Installation is planned for late 2024, with commissioning expected in early 2025.
The XRT sorters are engineered to deliver higher throughput and precision compared to traditional mineral processing methods, reducing water and chemical consumption while minimizing the material sent for crushing and grinding. These features are particularly beneficial for operations like Las Cuevas, where resource efficiency and environmental considerations are key priorities.
“Koura’s decision to integrate TOMRA’s XRT sorting technology reflects the proven capabilities of our solutions in addressing mining challenges. We are committed to supporting Koura’s success at Las Cuevas with reliable equipment and dedicated service.” said Harold Cline, TOMRA Mining’s North America Sales Manager.
