Mammoet Completes Testing of World’s Strongest Land-Based Crane

Mammoet announced they have successfully completed testing of the SK6000, the world’s most powerful land-based crane, certifying its safe operation to full specification. Testing was conducted at Mammoet’s Westdorpe facility in the Netherlands over a three-month period, with maritime classification organization Lloyd’s Register overseeing the process to confirm compliance with capacity and safety standards. Lloyd’s Register had previously reviewed the crane’s engineering design, confirming the suitability of the test program to validate its capacity charts.

The SK6000 underwent extensive functional, structural, and stability testing, where it was subjected to maximum load moments of 520,000 tonne meters—significantly exceeding the capacities of Mammoet’s previous cranes. This testing covered all main mast configurations and confirmed the crane’s capability to withstand 125% of its rated load in various operational conditions. Following completion, the crane will now be boomed down and containerized, ready for shipping to its first project in early 2025
